INPRESS JULY 1999 "Andrew Day is Nightswimmer the new experimental electronic offering from an artist who has been part of the music scene since he was 13. The guitarist/songwriter et al instruments player for eclectic hardcore act Non-Intentional Lifeform has now gone solo to produce his own sound. This album is full of eerie and dark undertones with beautiful sweeping sounds and melodic drumbeats. The work includes manipulated bass, trumpet, trombone and guitar samples, overlaying "intense, dark, yet sentimental" atmospheric electronic sounds. This is not hard thumping techno dance floor music, but a more intelligent crafted sound that is unique. I am glad to say that I cannot categorise his work into any box. Contemplating Dead Stars is a graceful, ambient track that has an almost middie eastern feel with a foreboding drum track that transposes from the ethereal to the corporeal. The jazz infused "The Somnabulist" is a low tempo funk track that gives me Burroughesqe flashbacks to The Naked Lunch or even whips of the Beat generations visceral sound. This is great experimental electronica that is homegrown.
